Working directly from a still life, we will explore the challenges of painting glassware, learning how to capture transparency, reflections and the effects of light. We will begin with preliminary sketches to establish composition and identify areas of light and shade, before moving on to canvas. Through careful observation and the use of tonal values, we will build depth, explore reflections and turn up the highlights to create a sense of light, form and transparency.
Small classes in a fun and relaxed environment set in our beautiful, beach garden, classroom.
All materials are provided, though do feel free to bring your own brushes should you prefer to use them.
Nb: Although we always use low odour solvents, please be aware that due to the nature of the paints, there will be some odours present.
