Rachael Alexander: On Water Reflections
Monet bollard by Rachael.
For centuries artists have devoted themselves to capturing the subject of water and its reflections on paper and canvas. From Turner’s huge paintings of ships on the sea, full of movement and emotion, to Monet’s beautiful, serene water lily pools that conjure up feelings of peace and tranquillity, artists have long been fascinated by the play of light on moving and still water.
Have you seen the ‘Monet’ bollard in The Square painted by Rachael?
Whether you are painting ‘dissolving’ reflections in moving water, or trying to capture the depth of images mirrored in still water, there are some ‘go to’ techniques that make this simpler than you might think!
Why not join Rachael on Tuesday 8th April for ‘River Reflections’, a lovely one-day oil painting workshop! Here she will show you how to achieve this, how to create depth and shadow, highlights and reflections, in easy-to-follow stages. Discover how versatile oil paints are to use, ‘get to know’ them by experimenting with colour mixing, techniques and methods in the morning, then go on to create a finished canvas to be proud of. Or if you prefer, carry on experimenting!
This workshop includes all materials and refreshments, just bring some lunch.
Suitable for all levels including beginners
